4 Tourist Factories in Yilan: What Can You Make?

A trip to Yilan offers more than beautiful scenery. Visitors can also explore tourist factories and enjoy hands-on activities. The Youth Daily News introduces four tourist factories in Yilan that combine industry knowledge, food, and DIY experiences, giving visitors a chance to learn about different production techniques along the way.
Located in Su'ao, the Mackerel Dream Factory focuses on the mackerel industry and seafood processing. In addition to exhibits about fish species and preservation methods, visitors can make fish-themed cards and try interactive games that simulate seafood processing. In Wujie, the Tiger Brand Rice Noodle Tourist Factory recreates old-fashioned streetscapes and displays traditional rice noodle-making tools. Visitors can also sample stir-fried rice noodles and participate in rice noodle-making activities for an additional fee.
Those interested in food production can visit Tan Ye Tian Di in Jiaoxi to learn about the fermentation process that transforms rice through saccharification, alcoholic fermentation, and acetic acid fermentation. The facility offers fruit vinegar samples and features a large spiral slide. In Yilan City, the Agrioz Candied Fruit Museum showcases the production of candied kumquats, from fruit selection and salt curing to drying. Visitors can sample candied fruit, taste kumquat tea, and join DIY activities for an additional fee.
From traditional food processing to making small crafts by hand, these tourist factories add interactive experiences to any trip. Those who enjoy DIY projects or home repairs can also keep a Gerber Center-Drive EDC 14-in-1 Multi-Tool handy. Back at home, the tool set can be used for simple adjustments, such as tightening loose furniture screws, extending the enjoyment of hands-on activities.
